I don’t remember when I ordered it but I’m pretty sure it was the minute Scott announced it was available for pre-order. To those in the comments above- he blogged a while ago that he had a flooding in his office and a big batch of books which were ready to be shipped got destroyed- maybe that’s why yours are late.

Anyway, about the book- I’ve only flipped through it so far but it looks very decent. The tone of the writing is very honest, friendly- no talking down to the readers! There are direct comments from the four authors popping up throughout the book in that classic ‘floating head with speech bubble’ way, and those add to the relaxed tone of the book. Relaxed, but not lazy- the writers speak from experience and they don’t encourage slacking. And because there are four of them, you get four different points of view on everything, all of them very useful.

I especially liked the ‘In the Hot Seat’ questions where each artist has the others comment on one of his strips, talk about how they interpreted it and what they thought of the artwork. Sometimes it’s nice to see that a successful cartoonist’s work isn’t accepted as perfect by default- there is always something to comment on or criticise.

Yeah, I love this book already. And the Skull drawing on the first page made my day.

There is only one problem I have, really- supposedly my book is the artist edition, but I have no idea what that means and how it differs from the other one.
